I am an interdisciplinary artist working with painting, new media, and interactivity to explore historical narratives.
My work has been presented at numerous institutions, including MoMA PS1, Queens Museum, Wild Project, Harvestworks, Experimental Intermedia, Union Docs, Galapagos, Roulette Intermedium, Governors Island, Pioneer Works, and Maysles Documentary Center. My projects often employ motion and sound-responsive environments—developed in part through Audio Peak Etcher, a software I co-created.
Long-term works include “…and also with you”, a multi-platform project amplifying the personal stories of asylum seekers (for which I received NYFA funding). Under the same project, I was also awarded a City Corps Artist Grant for “The Man from Eritrea”, an installation tracing the journey of a lone Eritrean asylum seeker from Africa to Texas. Another long term work is “Far Away,” a multi-platform project on Nicaraguan poetry and political legacy featuring Sergio Ramirez.
I also produce and curate public programs: 2014 to 2019, “ab uno pluribus”, a monthly audiovisual series, and currently “Mixed Poetics”, a trans-media showcase where text is a catalyst across forms.
In 2005, I formed Artola Digital, a post-production company. Clients include the Brooklyn Museum, DIA Chelsea, David Lee Roth, Phil Niblock, United Nations, Pat Oleszko, Meredith Monk, Karin Schneider, Duston Spear, and Naeem Mohaiemen
Since 2018, I have been a faculty instructor at the School of Visual Arts, teaching in three departments: Film, Photo & Video, and Visual Critical Studies.
